Meet the C-SPL November 2023 Reader of the Month, Ashley Hoppenjan!
As a mom of two and an English teacher, books provide me with so many ways to connect with my family, students, and friends. When I’m not parenting or teaching, I love spending time with family and friends, working out, and travelling.
Reading makes every activity better. Whether I’m commuting to work, folding laundry, or relaxing with my kids, audiobooks and physical books make the time more meaningful.
C-SPL November 2023 Reader of the Month Q & A:
Q. What book(s) are you currently reading?
A. I’m currently reading “The Girl with the Louding Voice” by Abi Dare.
Q. What is the best book you have read within the last year (or ever)?
A. The best book I have read this year is “The Diamond Eye” by Kate Quinn. Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, and I like how this book entailed female empowerment.
Q. What is your ideal reading environment (location, sound, snacks, etc.)?
A. The ideal reading environment is in a quiet space where I sip a vanilla chai tea.
Q. What book are you most excited about reading next, and what about it is most exciting?
A. I’m excited to read “Hum If You Don’t Know the Words” because it sounds intriguing and involves an element of history that I would like to learn more about through reading the novel.
Q. What format do you prefer and why (physical books, ebooks, audiobooks)?
A. I prefer reading a physical book at night and listening to its audiobook version during the day when I’m doing other tasks.
Q. Have you read any books recently that have changed the way you think about something?
A. Books that have shifted my mindset include “Maid” and “Sitting Pretty.” They helped me understand challenges that people face as a result of financial instability and disability
