About Noah:
I am an aspiring actor that is set to double major in Theatre Arts and History at Augustana College down in Rock Island, Illinois. I am also a shelving clerk here at Carnegie-Stout and an established member of my school, Western Dubuque’s, young book club.

It’s not entirely common for me to go finding books to read on my own; oftentimes, I just read what’s assigned in English class, or what the school’s book club is reading. Those two factors in and of themselves are enough to keep me occupied throughout the entirety of the school year. Otherwise, I’m not particularly picky with what I read, as it is very difficult for me not to enjoy a book. If I’m choosing a favorite genre, I’m going to say historical fiction, as a future history major that has always been my soft spot.

Q & A:

Q. What is the best book you have read within the last year (or ever)?
A. I’d have to go with “Far From the Tree,” a story of three (very different) adopted teens who came together to try and find their mother who they hadn’t heard from once.

Q. What is your ideal reading environment (location, sound, snacks, etc.)?
A. Beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to this, but ultimately, I’d say I am most productive in my bed with the lamp on, as that just creates the perfect climate, for some reason.

Q. What book are you most excited about reading next, and what about it is most exciting?
A. The only book I know I’m planning on reading soon is “The Book Thief,” a historical fiction novel taking place in Nazi Germany.

Q. What book has been most challenging for you to read? How did it challenge you?
A. “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde has been a very different experience when looking at just how much content is packed into one page; I guess nobody taught Oscar how to double space?

Q. When do you decide to stop reading a book? In other words, do you read every book to the last page or is there a moment when you decide to stop?
A. I like to set myself page goals; I have a goal that is either weekly or just when to finish it, and to pace myself properly, I read the same number of pages daily. Works like a charm.

Q. Do you remember when your love of reading began?
A. It sprang up early, seeing as how I have a mother that’s a librarian, and my biggest accomplishment to date was being in the first grade reading group as a kindergartner. I was quite the hotshot when I was five.
