Every other month, the library features the work of local artists or a local artist group in the historic rotunda for the Art @ Your library® exhibit. The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours. Works of art are also available for purchase.
“Diverse Voices” is a collaboration of culturally diverse female artists. This exhibit runs through July 26 and features local artists A. Alanda Gregory, Gail Chavenelle, Yara Lopez, and Hieyler Talley. Please join us for an Artist Reception on Friday, June 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. where you can meet the artists, mingle, purchase available artworks, and enjoy light refreshments.
About the Artists:
- A. Alanda Gregory is a local media entrepreneur and a novice abstract artist and enthusiast. She specializes in stone wrapping jewelry and recycling old jewelry into intentional accessories.
- Gail Chavenelle is a sculptor, she creates three-dimensional images from metal. Her piece, “Dance Diversity,” uses three 7-foot pieces of bold colored metal to celebrate diversity.
- Yara Lopez is a Los Angeles born creator and a Dubuque based illustrator. Her colorful works are inspired by the women who have made a difference in her life.
- Hieyler Talley paints large-scale gestural works. She describes her art as notations and tactile engagements of life, color, and expressions of what one finds in nature and place. Talley also owns and operates The Art Factory gallery in downtown Dubuque.
