Outreach
Carnegie-Stout Public Library is committed to offering enriching, educational and fun experiences for all groups.
To ensure we provide the best possible experience, we kindly request at least 4 weeks advance notice for outreach events and tours. If your event is outside of those timeframes, please contact our Outreach Coordinator at 563-589-4243. Please note that advance notice of any groups visiting the library is appreciated, even if no special services are required, so we can ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all.
Community Events and Festivals
Carnegie-Stout is always open to making connections, sparking curiosity, and being a part of the Dubuque community. When the library joins your event, it’s all about bringing people together and doing what we do best: offering knowledge, creativity, and fun! A Carnegie-Stout Library table can focus on library services, get folks signed up for library cards, or have the Makerspace crew bring some creative inspiration.
Special Presentations
Would your group benefit from an overview of library services or a library-specific topic? Carnegie-Stout offers special presentations that cover a range of library resources, services and topics.
Building Tours for All Ages
Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to town, a tour of Carnegie-Stout Public Library offers something for everyone. Our building holds a wealth of resources, inspiring spaces and endless possibilities. Let us know how we can customize a tour just for you.
Youth-Focused Library Visit
A great option for preschool groups, daycare centers or youth organizations looking to introduce kids to the library. We will combine an engaging story time session and
department tour to highlight all of the fun things that the library has to offer. Want your group to check out books, too? Ask us how to add library card sign-ups to your visit!
BLAST Classroom Visits
Are you a local teacher looking to create the perfect experience for your class? BLAST – Bringing Schools and Libraries Together – is the program for you!
BLAST Classroom/School Visits for Elementary Ages include:
Preschool and Kindergarten – Using the five early literacy practices of talk, sing, read, write and play, our librarian will lead a themed story time to increase vocabulary and foster decoding skills.
1st and 2nd Grade – Concentrating on making literature connections, our librarian will lead a fun and engaging activity and read aloud to make real world connections to text.
3rd to 5th Grade – Focusing on fostering a love of reading and lifelong learning, our librarian will discuss reading for recreational and informational purposes.
