3D Submission Form

Here you can upload a file to be printed on our 3D printers.

Size: The max printable area of an FDM print is 350mm x 300mm x 300mm. If your file needs to be shrunk or if there are other concerns about the quality of the print a staff member will contact you to discuss options before printing begins.

Color: Not all colors are available at all times. If the color you choose isn’t available a staff member will contact you to discuss options.

Multi-Color Prints: The Makerspace does have the ability to print models with up to four colors. You can find models already ‘painted’ ready to go on most 3D model websites like printables.com, or thingiverse.com. These will be .3MF files instead of the regular .stl files. STL files do not have any color data with with them. When you submit a model that is multi-colored make sure it is a .3MF file. If you can only find a regular .stl file for your model you can ‘paint’ it. Painting models can take considerable time so staff cannot do this for you, however there is free software available like Creality Print that will allow you to paint your models and save them as .3MF files.

Time: There may be long queues to use the 3D printer and as such the library cannot guarantee print times. A staff member will contact you when your item is finished printing.

Cost: Printed items cost $0.10 a gram for FDM printing. Before printing begins a staff member will contact you with a cost estimate.
