The Dubuque Museum of Art and Carnegie-Stout Public Library are excited to welcome author Tim O'Brien and filmmaker Aaron Matthews for a virtual event at 7:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, November 11, 2021.
The pair will appear live on Zoom to talk about their new documentary film, The War and Peace of Tim O’Brien (2021), and to answer viewers' questions in real time.
The film examines America's conflicted relationship with the Vietnam War. It follows Tim O'Brien, award-winning author of the The Things They Carried (1990), as he grapples with his experiences in the Vietnam War and struggles to finish one last book.
The live Q&A is free to attend, but advanced registration is required. People who register will receive the Zoom link, and they will be able to stream the full documentary film online for free for four days before the Q&A event. The film is 1 hour 24 minutes long and is not rated.
People who register will also be entered into a drawing to win a free copy of Tim O’Brien's book, The Things They Carried. Former library director Susan Henricks will lead a discussion of the book at Carnegie-Stout Public Library at a follow-up event on Tuesday, November 30.
